چکیده

To test the hypothesis that comparison processes facilitate schema extraction, we studied the effect of making comparisons on 3-year-olds’ ability to perform mapping tasks. In 3 studies, children were tested on their ability to find a hidden toy in a model room after being shown its location in a perceptually different room. In Experiment 1 we found that seeing 2 similar hiding events-permitting a sequential comparkonimproved 3-year-olds’ performance on the mapping task. Experiment 2 showed a more striking effect: Simply comparing the initial hiding model with another nearly identical model helped children to succeed on the subsequent mapping task. Experiment 3 showed that the comparison effect was not simply due to an opportunity to interact with 2 examples, but was specific to comparing them. We conclude that comparing examples can facilitate children’s noticing common relational schemasin this case, a spatial relational schema-and their ability to use this system of relations in subsequent tasks.0ur central hypothesis is that the process of comparison is a major force in children’s learning and development. In this work, we test the specific claim that drawing comparisons among similar spatial arrays fosters insight into the common spatial relations, as assessed in a subsequent spatial mapping task.

A One-to-One Bias and Fast Mapping Support Preschoolers' Learning About Faces and Voices

A multimodal person representation contains information about what a person looks like and what a person sounds like. However, little is known about how children form these face-voice mappings. Here, we explored the possibility that two cognitive tools that guide word learning, a one-to-one mapping bias and fast mapping, also guide children's learning about faces and voices. We taught 4- and 5-...

Fixed point theorems for new J-type mappings in modular spaces

In this paper, we introduce $rho$-altering $J$-type mappings in modular spaces. We prove some fixed point theorems for $rho$-altering and $rho$-altering $J$-type mappings in modular spaces. We also furnish illustrative examples to express relationship between these mappings. As a consequence, the results are applied to the existence of solution of an integral equation arising from an ODE ...

On $F$-Weak Contraction of Generalized Multivalued Integral Type Mappings with $alpha $-admissible

The purpose of this work is to investigate the existence of fixed points of some mappings in fixed point theory by combining some important concepts which are F-weak contractions, multivalued mappings, integral transformations and α-admissible mappings. In fixed point theory, it is important to find fixed points of some classess under F- or F-weak contractions. Also multivalued mappings is the ...

Indicator of $S$-Hausdorff metric spaces and coupled strong fixed point theorems for pairwise contraction maps

In the study of fixed points of an operator it is useful to consider a more general concept, namely coupled fixed point. Edit In this paper, by using notion partial metric, we introduce a metric space $S$-Hausdorff on the set of all close and bounded subset of $X$. Then the fixed point results of multivalued continuous and surjective mappings are presented. Furthermore, we give a positive resul...
